BRANSON, MO NOVEMBER 2026

We drove to Branson, Missouri to attend a Freightliner rally for people who own RV’s built on the Freightliner chassis; class A motorhomes and super C RV’s. Before we left home, I did the final mow on our lawn. This takes about 2 hours front and back.

We arrived at the Americans Best Campground (referred to as ABC Campground) on Tuesday.

Branson is a unique city similar to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, with a party atmosphere. The one unique attraction is the Christmas and holiday offerings. There are also unique food offerings which have been pretty good. Most of our food is supplied by the rally but we did go to dinner on our first night at the Gettin’ Basted restaurant. This is a BBQ which has been on Barbecue Pitt Masters, Jack Daniels World Invitational BBQ Championships, and Food Network BBQ Brawl. The owner, Brad Leighninger, cooks using wood and 55 gallon drums, His awards and copies of his winning checks are posted for all to see. The food was great. One unique dish we ate was the brisket barbecued nachos, however, he uses won-ton wrappers instead of chips which gave a unique taste.

We also ate lunch at Mel’s Hard Luck Diner. They hire singers, who they teach how to serve, who sing while serving. Many perform for local groups and have CD’s available. The food and soups were great as was the malts. We also dined at Billy Bob’s Dairy Land where the burgers were giant and the malts were delicious. We were warned not to order a double burger unless you are going to share it.

Keeping Christmas in mind, we also went to Kringle’s. This is one of many holiday oriented store selling items year round.

We will be going to a number of shows the group arranged for the group. I will post about shows at the end of the rally.
